Aransas County
Origin of the Name
Aransas Bay derives its name from an early Spanish fort, which in turn is believed to have been named after a Spanish palace, Aránzazu, potentially linked to the Sanctuario de Aránzazu; "Arantzazu" translates to "place of thorns" in Basque.
